PASTORS

  • Todd Morikawa, Pastor (toddymorikawa@gmail.com)

Todd was born in Honolulu, raised in Aiea and later, in Hilo on the Big Island. He was raised in a Christian home but did not really understand the gospel until he was 15 years old, when God changed his heart through the preaching of the Gospel at a youth camp. For the first time, Todd understood the substitutionary nature of Jesus’ death, that Jesus really took his place on the cross. After that, God gave Todd new desires, including reading the Bible, praying, and fellowship with other believers. Eventually, God gave Todd the desire to pursue ministry and granted him the opportunity in 2005.

Todd has a BA in Communication (UH-Hilo 2004) and an M.Div. in Biblical and Theological Studies (Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, 2008). He is married to Natalie and they have two daughters. Todd’s responsibilities at KBC include prayer and the ministry of full time preaching.

  • Reid Honbo, Pastor (reidhonbo@gmail.com)

Reid was born in Honolulu and was raised in Kaneohe. Reid first heard the Gospel as a fifth grader at Hawaii Baptist Academy. Over a span of a year or two, the Lord made it very clear to him the he is a sinner and Jesus is the only One who can save him. So Reid responded to God’s call and repented of his sins and placed his trust in Christ for the forgiveness of his sins and for eternal life with God.

Reid has a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY, 1989) and a Master of Arts in Religion (International College and Graduate School, Honolulu, HI, 1999). Reid lives with his wife in Kaneohe and is the father of one son and one daughter. Reid’s responsibilities at KBC include prayer and the ministry of the Word.

  • James Curry, Pastor (jameseltoncurry@gmail.com)

James moved to Oahu in 2006 from his hometown in Louisville, KY. By God’s merciful and sovereign grace, James was awakened to a sobering sense of his sin and the beauty and worth of Christ in the Spring of 2010. From that point, he began to put to death the sins and evil inclinations of his heart. He has continued in a trajectory of knowing, loving, and treasuring Christ above all things. James is married to his lovely wife Latesha. Together they have two children - Jude and Laurel.

Jame sholds a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has been involved in a variety of ministry roles, including the Baptist Collegiate Ministries at UH Manoa, pastoral internships, and leading in things like worship through song, teaching, preaching, and prayer.

  • David Greenstreet, Pastor (davidlogan1941@gmail.com)

David is an officer in the U.S. Air Force and moved to Oahu in 2022 from Washington D.C. He is originally from Woodland Park, Colorado and, by God's kindness, grew up in a Christian home. He was taught the Gospel clearly by his parents and became a Christian while he was a young child. God has been sanctifying him ever since through churches at each assignment in Colorado, Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, Washington D.C., and now Hawaii. In these churches, David has been involved in a variety of ministry roles including youth ministry, prayer, teaching both children and adults in Sunday School, and preaching on Sunday nights and Sunday morning.

David has a Bachelor of Science in Geospatial Science (U.S. Air Force Academy, 2013) and a Masters of Business Administration (University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 2022). He lives in Kailua with his wife, Anna, and two daughters, Ruth and Mary. David's responsibilities at KBC include prayer and teaching.

KBC Doctrinal Statement

Our elders’ Confession of Faith is the 2nd London Confession of Faith (1677/1689). We refer to this as the KBC Doctrinal Statement (what we teach and what members must submit to).

This is a description of the required beliefs of every elder, and it is what the elders want every member to believe. It is the distinctive document that defines our church. Affirmation of Confession of Faith and Church Covenant are how you become a member; the Doctrinal Statement is what we expect every member to grow into. Every member must be open to being persuaded on every doctrine. When a Christian considers how to watch their “life and their doctrine” (1 Tim 4.16), they should use the Church Covenant as one of the main ways to assess their life, and they should use the Doctrinal Statement to assess their doctrine.
