Reprezent Him Youth
Aiding our families for the glory of God
The youth ministry of Kailua Baptist exists to help parents fulfill the Great Commission in their homes. The number one priority of Reprezent Him is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We encourage the adults of Kailua Baptist to get involved in this exciting ministry!
Philosophy of outreach
“Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds, and glorify God on the day of visitation.” (1 Peter 2.12) We must interact with unbelievers in such a way that they can observe our Christian conduct, in hopes that they become believers. Reprezent Him will try to reach unbelieving teenagers in hopes to introduce them to Jesus Christ.
Philosophy of evangelism
“So faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” (Romans 10.17) There is no evangelism without the “evangel.” We cannot rightly call anything evangelism without speaking the words of Christ, namely, the gospel. As long as we get some gospel truth out there, we can be confident God will use it for His glory. The basic gospel message as outlined in the Scriptures is: God-Man-Christ-Response (see What is the Gospel? By Greg Gilbert). Reprezent Him must evangelize in line with all of this. We must trust that God will open up hearts to believe in Jesus, and that we do not need to coerce human beings in any way.
Philosophy of teaching children the Christian faith
“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” (Eph 6.4) Fathers are the authority in the home. Parents are the authority over children. And it is the responsibility of parents to teach their children the Christian faith. We expect that many of the children of members (as well as children who are members) will be involved with Reprezent Him. But Reprezent Him must never replace parents in the discipleship of children. We must only see ourselves as aiding parents.
Reprezent Him strives to:
- See itself as a ministry of the church, submitting to the leadership of the elders (biblical understanding of church leadership)
- Try to make clear to young people the difference between who is a Christian and who is not (biblical understanding of conversion)
- Try to never let the youth see their youth group as their “church”, but see the church as their church (biblical understanding of discipleship)
- Try to preach Christ as the greatest treasure for every believer
